Obituary of Harriet Elson
Harriet Elson, well-known watercolor artist, passed away on December 21, at the Hospice Care Center in Copley.
She was preceded in death by husband, Russell and parents, Helen and Raymond Fox. She leaves her three children, Pamela Elson, Raymond (Lanette) Elson, and Douglas Elson; grandchildren, Amanda and Raymond; sister, Marilyn (Charles) Beckwith; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Born in Akron in 1931, Harriet grew up in Cuyahoga Falls and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls H.S. in 1950. Her husband and children were her joy, raising them at Twin Lakes with good memories of neighbors and friends.
Harriet loved art. She was accepted into major exhibitions, selected for numerous awards, and included in corporate and private collections. She had been published in several art books and magazines. Her memberships included life memberships in the Ohio Watercolor Society and the Whiskey Painters of America, the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, and the Hudson Society of Artists.
She and her husband, renovated a home in Munroe Falls which was built in 1831, where she operated her art gallery and gift shop.
Harriet would like to thank her many friends for filling her life with laughter, happiness, and true joy.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL (at 3rd St., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls), where a brief memorial service will take place at 6 p.m.
