Obituary of Robert D. Brunton

Robert D. Brunton, 78, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center. Robert was born March, 6, 1932 to Alex and Elizabeth (Drapcho) Brunton, Jr. in Akron and had been a Cuyahoga Falls resident for over 49 years. He received a bachelor of Education from the University of Akron and a Master of Education from Kent State. He began a career with the Akron Board of Education as an educator, teacher and administrator, retiring after 33 years of service. He was a member of St. Eugene's Catholic Church Jednota #553, Toastmaster's Club (former president) and Phi Delta Kappa. Bob was a 3rd degree member of K of C Council 3410 and a 4th degree member of Mgsr. O'Keefe Assembly. He was a proud veteran of the Navy during the Korean War. Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Jean (Vielhaber); children, Beth Woods of Wadsworth, Alan (Nancy) Brunton of Hiram and Martin (Patricia) Brunton of Murrel's Inlet, S.C.; grandchildren, Robbie, Taylor and Jordan Woods, Alexis and Charlie Brunton; sisters, Betty Jean (Dick) Smith of Coventry, JoAnn (John) Thur of Brimfield and Barbara (Richard) Hughes; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:30 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan- Reid and Santos Chapel, Corner of Stow Ave. and Third St. one block north of Portage Trail followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. The family will receive friends Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Eugene Church.
