Obituary of Amy E. Shepherd

Amy E. Shepherd, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Akron City Hospital. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, September 16, 1923 to the late John and Daisy (Lackey) Beckham, Amy had been a longtime area resident. She was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple. Amy was a ``Rosie the Riveter' during World War II and had been employed by Akron City Hospital. In addition to her parents, Amy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Walter; precious granddaughter, Theresa Shepherd; and brothers, Robert and William Beckham, and is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Jr. and Anne, Johnny and Lynn, and Daniel and Rosanne; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Daniel Monroe; grandchildren, Dennis, Amy, Mandy, Chad, Kirk, Jenny, Sebastian, Isaac and four great-grandchildren. Amy cherished her family and was the world's GREATEST mother and grandmother. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY - KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will take place on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
