Obituary of Richard C. Harman
Richard C. Harman, 97, passed away on October 22 at his home in Silver Lake.
Born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio on Febraury 4, 1913 to the late Benjamin and Minnie Harman, Dick had been a Silver Lake resident for over 54 years. His entire career was spent working for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he retired as the Assistant Treasurer. He was a steadfast and faithful member of the Church in Silver Lake, serving on its board of trustees. Dick was chairman of the Park Board of Silver Lake and was instrumental in the development of the Fauser Arboretum in Silver Lake. In earlier years, Dick was closely involved with fund raising for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and Denison University and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, recognized with its highest honor, the Order of Constantine.
In addition to his parents; Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in 1993; as well as brothers, Robert and John. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stephan and Carolyn of Dayton, Ohio; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Byron Williams of Accokeek, Md. and Kathleen and James Seitz of Gunnison, Colo.; grandchildren, Stephanie and Stephan Harman, Erica (Jeff) Aubrey, Aaron (Leah), Matthew Seitz; great-grandchildren, Lyra and Orion Aubry, and Ryder Seitz. Dick also leaves behind his friend and close companion, Jean Pagnard of Akron, Ohio.
Cremation has taken place and internment of ashes will take place in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. A memorial service will be announced in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Church in Silver Lake or Crossroads Hospice.
