Obituary of David Captain Smith

David Captain Smith, 83, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at University Hospital in Cleveland. He was born in Nicut, West Virginia and founded Dave's Aluminum in 1960 and joined of Coppersmith Roofing in 1988. Mr. Smith was a devoted member of Arlington Church of the Nazarene for over 60 years. He loved to golf and his goal was to beat the ninth hole (par 3) at Barberton Brookside Country Club. He loved being with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaiah David and Ora Lee (McCoy) Smith; son-in-law, Raymond Mast; siblings Frances Lindermood, Nell Stump, David Aristotle Smith, Bernard Smith and Robert Lee Smith. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie (Crew); children, Sherri Mast, Mary Jean (Timothy) Flossie, Robert David (Jeannie Marie) Smith, Thomas (Diane) Smith and Timothy Leonard (Beth Ann) Smith; grandchildren Joseph Flossie, Jill (Bert) Ammerman, David and Derek (Julie) Mast, Joshua (Keri), Andre (Ali), Rachel and Victoria Smith and Matthew Anthony; great grandchildren Albert Ammerman V, Hillarie Kinzel, Olivia and Jacob Flossie and Andraia and Ace Smith. Funeral service will be held Friday, 1 p.m. at Arlington Church of the Nazarene, 1057 Triplett Blvd. Akron, Ohio 44306. Timothy Leonard Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends TODAY 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301. Donations may be made to the church.
