Obituary of Kathleen Ann Yanok

Kathleen Ann Yanok, 62, left us unexpectedly to join her fellow angels on Friday, June 6, 2014. Though her years on earth were fewer than they should have been, she made them all count. Kathy was born August 31, 1951 in Barberton "The Magic City" to loving parents, the late Steve and Ann Shultz. In 1973, she married the love of her life, John Yanok. Together they raised their two beloved sons, John and Andrew. Kathy was not only a devoted wife and mother, she was a strong, hard-working woman that maintained a professional career on top of managing the homefront, working as an administrative assistant for the Diocese of Cleveland for 29 years. Kathy enjoyed gardening, flea markets ("junkin") and spending time with friends and family. She was also a member of Saints Philip and James Catholic Church and was an active member of the Stark County Parkinson Caregivers Support Group, a group that initially she needed, but eventually that needed her. Kathy is no doubt overjoyed to be reunited with both her parents and her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Yanok, who departed in 2008. She is survived by her dear husband of 41 years, John; sons John and Andrew (Melanie) Yanok; siblings Nancy Pantoliano and John (Jack Brown) Shultz; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She also leaves behind her cat, Mr. Goo, whose heart is in the right place… as are his claws. The family will receive family and friends on Friday, June 13 from 4-8 PM at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday June 14, at Saints Philip & James Catholic Church, 412 High Street N.E. in Canal Fulton. Donations may be made to the Stark County Parkinson Caregivers Support Group, Ohio Parkinson Foundation Northeast Region, P.O. Box 271, Tallmadge, Ohio 44278.
