Obituary of Rose Mary McVey

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Rose Mary McVey, 85, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at Akron General Medical Center. She was born in Akron and retired from the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #70. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls where she also served as Eucharistic Minister for many years. She was very active in many other aspects of church social life as well. Mrs. McVey was a volunteer for the Good Samaritan Hunger Center in Akron and was an avid Cleveland Sports Fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; and sister, Tina Foster. She is survived by her children, Barb Ortopan, Sue (Tom) Keller, Becky (Rick) Brandy, Debbie (John) Recco, Joe (Vicki) McVey and Laurie (Curtis) VonGunten; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Petsche; and sisters, Helen Eppolito and Mary Massey. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Fr. James Singler celebrant. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. (one block North of Portage Trail at 3rd St.) in Cuyahoga Falls.
