Robert H. Harvey, Jr.
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Robert H. Harvey, Jr., died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 29, 2014, while doing one of the things he enjoyed -- working in his backyard.
Born February 7, 1922, in Tarkio, Mo., to Robert H. and Morettie Brown Harvey, he had been a Cuyahoga Falls resident since 1948. After graduating from Kansas State University, where he also played football. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a commander of a crash boat in the South Pacific. He was employed as an engineer for the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. for over 40 years, and traveled all over the world as part of his employment. He was on the Cuyahoga River Reclamation Commission and was active in other civic issues. He was a longtime member of High Street Christian Church and regularly attended luncheons at Firestone. He loved to garden, hunt and fish, and planted many trees.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edna; his children, Patricia Lukosavich, Robert L. Harvey, Pamela Kenik, Shirley Harvey, Wendy Medley, and Robin Chimento; brother, Leonard; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Monday, May 5, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Anthony Funeral Home McGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL, 247 Stow Ave. (at 3rd. St., one block north of Portage Trail) in Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Funeral service and interment will be private.
