Obituary of Fred W. Haag

Fred W. Haag Fred W. Haag, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Saturday, April 26, 2014. Fred was born May 17, 1921 to Thomas J. and Emma B. (Wallace) Haag and had been an Akron area resident his entire life. He was employed by Firestore Tire and Rubber Co. for over 42 years, retiring in 1986. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War ll and received the Bronze Star. He was in the Texas Division, fought in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe battles receiving five Bronze Battle Stars and a Bronze Arrowhead. He was a member of VFW Post 3383. Fred was the beloved husband of Rita (Haas) for 65 years and the loving father of Rose (Dan) Maas, Barb (Rusty) Wilhelm, Jackie (Richard) Malone, Tom (Bobbi) Haag, Toni (Danny) Maple and Marianne (Keith) Johnson; he was a wonderful grandfather to Michael (Charlene) Maas, Michele (Tom) Dolensky, Jodi (Kevin) Fuller, Molly (Shawn) Carlson, Kate Malone, Brandon and Matthew Haag, Jonathan and Adam (Kristen) Maple, Jeff Johnson, Amanda (Chris) Baker, and Melissa Johnson; great-grandfather to Corey, Blake and Jordynn Fuller, Tommy, Joe and Leeann Dolensky, Freddy and David Maas and Dominic Carlson; uncle to many nieces and nephews, but especially to Linda (James) Bradley and David Haag. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. and Emma Haag; bother, Roy (Mary) Haag; and great-grandson, Anthony. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Linda Bradley officiating. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The St. Luke's Community, 615 Latham Lane, Akron, OH 44319 or Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Uniontown, OH 44685. We would like to thank St. Luke's Lutheran Community, Portage Lakes and Crossroads Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Dad.

Visitation

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Linda Bradley officiating. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
