Obituary of Mary A. Rossi

Mary A. Rossi Mary A. Rossi, 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 surrounded by her daughters, finally being reunited with her best friend and husband of 42 years, Madeo. Mary was born on February 28, 1935 in Fairmont, WV to Martin and Mary Louise Clevenger. They moved to Akron in 1946, where Mary attended Garfield High School. She worked for Akron Public Schools, serving as a secretary at both Garfield and Ellet High Schools for 39 years. After retiring in 2002, Mary spent much time with her friends and family; weekly luncheons with her girlfriends and spoiling her grandchildren were among her favorite activities. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Mary loved to sit on her patio, among her numerous flowers, while entertaining her many friends and loved ones. She was exceedingly generous, always putting others before herself. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Marion Rossi; and siblings Martin L. Clevenger Jr. & Joe Ann Tittle. She is survived by her daughters Michelle (Tom) Freeman and Melissa (Shannon) Shinaberry; siblings William Clevenger, Patricia (Dan) Little, Tom (Chris) Clevenger; sister-in-law Jean Clevenger; brothers-in-law John Tittle, Fred Rossi and Joe Rossi; grandchildren Ashley, Patrick & Michael Freeman and Morgan, Mac, Maryn and Madison Shinaberry; and many beloved nieces, nephews and Godchildren. The family is grateful to the Akron City Palliative Care nurses and the ICU T3 nurses and staff for making their last days with their mom as comfortable as possible. The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, June 1, from 4-8 PM at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 2, at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron. Visitation
