Basilio "Buzz" Cipiti (Sibit)
Basilio "Buzz" Cipiti (Sibit), 92, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014.
Basilio was born on Jaunary 1, 1922 in Akron to Rosario and Maria Cipiti. He married Abrellia (Billie) Holbrook in 1942. Buzz served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a Foreman for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 40 years. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3410, and the AARP 1715. Buzz had a big heart and a loud voice, and he always took in any animal that needed a home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Abrellia; siblings, Samuel Sibit, Lena Smole, Matthew (Frances) Sibit, Russell Sibit and Roy Sibit. He is survived by his children, James Cipiti of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Pamela (Jeffery) Chatelain of Wadsworth; grandchildren, James D. (Sharon) Cipiti, Kristen (Grant) Turner, Matthew Chatelain, and Bruno Ramos; great-grandchildren, Marissa and Verna Cipiti; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to Copley Health Care Center and to Hospice for their wonderful care.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 6 at 11 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends an hour prior. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 6155 Rockside Rd. Suite 202, Independence, OH 44131.
