Obituary of James Henry Heffernan
James Henry Heffernan passed away May 21, 2014 a few days shy of his 88th Birthday, with family by his side.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, JoAnn (Colopy) and their eight children; they were nicknamed the "10 J's": James (Sarah) Heffernan, Jackie Dean, Jerry (Sandy) Heffernan, Judy (Rick) McGrath, John (Debbie) Heffernan, Julie (Tim) Zupke, Janet Heffernan (Terri Wood), and Joe (Chris) Heffernan; 16 grandchildren: Christy Lockhart, Jennifer (Ryan) Miller, Robert, Michelle (Tel) Johnson, Patrick, Nicholas, Peter, Katherine, Timmy, Jamie, Jacob, Mallory, Jade, Joseph, Hayley and Jessa; 5 great grandchildren: Jude, Quinn, Ella, Tripp and Tee. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 younger siblings.
Jim was always a devoted, providing husband and loving, proud father and grandpa. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 3410 and a dedicated member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, as he raised his children in a deep-rooted faith. He served in the U.S. Army, WW II and was a Purple Heart recipient. Jim was a retired truck driver from Brown-n-Graves Lumber Company and most recently a driver for United Dental Lab. The family will receive friends Monday, May 26th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St. Akron where a K of C Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St., Akron, OH44301.
