Obituary of James Joseph McClarnon

James Joseph McClarnon, 89, passed away on May 14, 2014 at his home. James was born in Akron on October 17, 1924, to Samuel and Cecelia McClarnon. After serving as a Water Tender for the US Navy during World War II, James married his beloved wife, Anna F. Brooks in 1945. He worked as a Stationary Engineer for Goodyear Aerospace , until he retired in 1986. James was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He loved to travel with his wife and their friends, and spent much of his retirement on different cruises and trips all around the world. James was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Anna; and six siblings. He is survived by his six children, son and daughter-in-law James & Elizabeth McClarnon; daughters and sons-in-law Patricia and William Laughlin, Cynthia and Ronald Miller, Pauline and Robert Howard, Mary Ann and Brad Downing, and Teresa & Wayne Graves; grandchildren Marcie (Ted), Christa (Gary), Michael (Jill), Ryan (Marcie), Shaun, Shanna (Andy), Ian (Lauren), Erica (Evan), Megan, Julian, Nathan, Paula (Bob) and Ron; great-grandchildren Jenna (Joe), Christopher, Caleb, Liam, Brian, Cailyn, Audrey, Riley, Colin, Lily, Luke, Annie, Macy, Kaitlin, and Ian; and sister Jane Newell. The family is thankful for the daily, loving care given to James by Debbie Fogle and Gail Bleibtry; their committed support was a true blessing. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 AM on Saturday, May 17 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends and family for one hour prior from 10-11AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Diabetes Association, P.O. Visitation

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 AM on Saturday, May 17 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends and family for one hour prior from 10-11AM.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
