Obituary of Rosemary Ann Helon

Rosemary Ann Helon, 59, of Firestone Park in Akron Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Summa Western Reserve Hospital, due to complications related to chronic health conditions. Rosemary was born on August 25, 1954 in Dennison, Ohio, the second child of Mary Ann (Smolak) and Pio Richard Chini. She grew up in Dennison, Ohio with siblings, Rita, Richard, and Ronald. Rosemary attended Timken Mercy Nursing School, earning her Bachelor's degree in Nursing in 1975. She was a Registered Nurse, working at Akron General Medical Center for about two decades. Rosemary married Ronald Michael Helon on December 21, 1974. They have three sons, Ryan Joseph, Phillip Anthony, and Matthew Alan. Rosemary was deeply committed to her husband, children, family, friends, and Roman Catholic faith. During her 39 years as a parishioner at St. Paul Catholic Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and also ministered to the sick and elderly. As part of her deep commitment to her faith, Rosemary was initiated into the Secular Order of Franciscans. Her ministry included extensive volunteerism at local hospitals. Rosemary was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary and Pio Chini. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Ronald; her sons, Ryan (Joanna), Phillip (Jennifer), and Matthew; grandchildren, Addison, Luke, Asher, and Annabelle; sister, Rita Plazo (James); brothers, Richard (Jean) and Ronald (Deborah) Chini; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces. Calling hours will be held Monday, May 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 South Main St. in Akron, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron. Interment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
