Obituary of Rose Mary Owens

Rose Owens, 95, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2014 at Summa Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls. Born in Olyphant, Pa on July 2, 1918 to the late Peter and Ellen Quinn, Rose had been an area resident for over 70 years. After graduating from nursing school, Rose was commissioned into the US Navy and served as a registered nurse during WWII. She went on to work for over 40 years in nursing at various institutions in the Akron area. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1983; brothers William, Raymond, & Richard Quinn; great-grandson Jacob Ryan Dever; She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Kevin & Joan Owens; daughter Judy Owens and daughter & son-in-law Maureen & Harry Brand all of Cuyahoga Falls; daughter & son-in-law Roberta & Dan Smith of Meadville, PA. grandchildren Tim Owens, Eddie Roach, Keith, & Josh Smith, Jennifer Schweter, Adam Owens, Vanessa Case, Lori Dever, and Shawn Brand; 20 great-grandchildren, and special nephew Pat Quinn. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff in the ICU and Hospice at the Summa Western Reserve Hospital for the outstanding care Rose received during her time there. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 30, at 12:00 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL 247 Stow Ave. (at 3rd. St., one block north of Portage Trail) in Cuyahoga Falls, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Summa.

Visitation
