Obituary of Mary Ellen Wiley

Mary Ellen passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014. She was born October 2 1941 to Paul and Elizabeth (Hopkins) Thornton. She grew up in Akron Ohio, married, moved to Greentown, (North Canton ), and lived there the 37 years. Mary Ellen retired from J Baker Shoe Co. at Acme Click Stores for over 20 years. Mary Ellen went to St. Paul Grade school and attended St. Paul Catholic Church in Akron, until she moved to Greentown. She is a current member of Queen of Heaven Parish in Green. Mary Ellen was a very dedicated wife and mother and daughter. She always put the needs of family and others before herself. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Elizabeth Thornton. She is survived by husband of 50 years David, children Cheryl Wiley, David (Kim) and Jeffrey (Melissa) Wiley; siblings Barbara (William) Fatica of Akron, Teri Godar of Cape Coral, Fl. And Paul (Kelly) Thornton of Hilton Head, SC.; grandchildren Kayla, Nicholas and Nathan Wiley and Bud and Cory Nutter; many nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to Mercy Hospice for the tenderness and compassion to Mary Ellen and her family. The family will receive TODAY from 5 to 8 pm at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Rd. (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads in Green, entrance off of Steese) Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:40 am at the funeral home and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am in Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown, OH 44685.
