Obituary of Shelvie Jane Gustafson

Shelvie J. Gustafson, 76, passed away unexpectedly on April 20, 2014. Born in Greensburg, PA on May 4, 1937 to the late Edward & Velma Byerly, Shelvie was a 1955 graduate of Jeannette (PA) High School and had been an area resident since 1959. She was a graduate of the Columbia School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA and worked as a Registered Nurse for Barberton Citizen's Hospital, Akron Children's Hospital, and the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. Shelvie enjoyed baking, sewing, and gardening, but she most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved growing up in the 1950's, and especially enjoyed the music of that era. Shelvie is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Gus, of Green; her children Charley Gustafson and Rose (John) Back of Uniontown; grandchildren Sam & Sydney Back; brother Kenneth Byerly; sisters-in-law Betty Jo (James) Wilson of North Huntingdon PA, Kathryn Gustafson of Jeannette, PA, & Dorothy Gustafson of Akron, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Inurnment will take place at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont, PA.
