Obituary of Joseph 'Ernie' Thibodeau
CUYAHOGA FALLS - Joseph "Ernie" Thibodeau, 90, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 at his home, The Danbury.
Joe was born March 13, 1924 in Cambridge, Mass. to Frederick and Marie Louise (nee Jean) Thibodeau and had been an area resident most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was an Expert Marksman and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Joe was a mechanical engineer for Goodyear Tire and Rubber and later for Goodyear Aerospace where he received an award for Research and Development and had been named in a patent for aircraft fuel tank baffles. He retired after 37 years in 1985. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Brookledge Golf Club and the Falls Senior Travel Club. He was a world traveler and had visited all the continents except Antarctica.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Virginia, in 1997; and his siblings, Jeanette Jette and Paul and Edward Thibodeau. He is survived by his children, Edward (Lauren) Thibodeau, Marie (Robert) Walsh and Mary (David) Siringer; granddaughters, Colleen (Greg) Caskey and Maureen (Dr. Daniel) Buchan.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL, 247 Stow Ave. (at 3rd St., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls). Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial At Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
