Obituary of Glenn Allen Barber

Glenn A. Barber of Medina died on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Glenn was born on July 12, 1925 to Glenn A. Sr., and Dene M. (Nee Herriff) Barber. He graduated from Kent-Roosevelt H.S. in 1943. He enlisted in the Naval Air Corps in 1943 and served in the Philippines with Patrol Bomber Squadron VPB-71 (Black Cats). After discharge, he attended Kent State University, transferred to The Ohio State University, graduating in 1950. He was a faithful member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Glenn joined the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1950, and retired in 1986 as a Section Mgr. in Government Sales. During that time, he was an active member of the National Contract Management Assoc., serving as it Northeast Ohio president. The Barbers enjoyed travel and had visited all 50 states, and 65 countries. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia; children Deborah (Steven) Davis of Bath, Mark H. Barber of Medina, and Melinda (Scott) Williamson of Medina; grandchildren Jeffrey (Debi) Davis of Norton, Michael (Helen) Davis of Bath, and Taylor & Alexandra Williamson of Orlando, FL.; and great-grandchildren Collin, Landon and Henry Davis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Monday, April 14 at St. Victor Catholic Church, 3435 Everett Rd. in Richfield, where family will receive friends for one hour prior. His final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Victor Catholic Church or The Village at St. Edward Nursing Home, 3131 Smith Rd. Akron, 44333. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Monday, April 14 at St. Victor Catholic Church, 3435 Everett Rd. in Richfield, where family will receive friends for one hour prior.
