Obituary of Elmer Joseph Huszar
Elmer Huszar passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in North Canton, Ohio on Monday, March 24, 2014.
He is survived by his son, Joe Huszar; daughter, Christine Lynch and her husband, PJ, and their children Matt and Emily; and his son, Paul Huszar and his wife, Elise, and their children, Grant and Madison. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years Genevieve (Shahmouradian) Huszar in 1993.
Elmer was a graduate of Kenmore High School, proudly served as a Navy SeaBee during World War II, and was a lifelong resident of northeast Ohio. He owned and operated Huszar Construction Company for over 40 years in Akron, a business started by his father. He was a leader in the construction industry in Akron and a past president of the Associated General Contractors of America, Akron Division; Trustee of the Bricklayer's Pension Fund; board member of the Akron Children's Zoo; board member of the Akron Telephone Credit Union; served as a construction consultant to the University of Akron; and was also a past President of Kenmore Little League.
Calling hours will be held in his honor from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 3rd at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. He will be interred at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with a small Memorial Graveside Service on Friday, April 4th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Small Dog Rescue/Furkids, 1520 Union Hill Rd., Alpharetta, GA 30005 or via their website at www.smalldoghumane.org.
