Obituary of Stephanie M. Andrews

Mooresville, N.C. -- Stephanie M. Andrews, 69, fell asleep in the Lord on March 20, 2014 in North Carolina. Once diagnosed with a serious illness nearly 40 years ago, Stephanie Andrews never gave up her feisty spirit. With the help of her parents, she pushed through rehab at home, and was able to move to Arizona. Ten years ago, she moved back East to North Carolina to be closer to her brother Mark. Stephanie was born October 2, 1944, and grew up in Fairlawn, Ohio, where she graduated from Copley High School, and later attended Kent State University and The University of Akron. Before her illness, Stephanie worked as a secretary for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and also taught typing at The University of Akron. Stephanie enjoyed dancing and was an avid snow skier. Representing the Akron Ski Club, she was crowned the February 1968 Miss Ohio Snow Queen of the Winter Ski Carnival at Snow Trails Ski Area. She was extremely proud to have been recognized in October 1970 in the Akron Beacon Journal as one of the "Goodyear dozen" women who reported to work in a pantsuit for the first time in the company's history! She was vibrant with life and hope and loved to travel the United States and the world, including a trip to Greece with her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She had also begun a part-time modeling career. Stephanie was preceded in death by her father, James and brothers, Michael and Timothy Andrews. She is survived by her mother, Leona (Mousetes); brother, Mark and wife Erin Andrews of Sherrills Ford, N.C.; as well as nephews, Michael and Nicholas; niece, Anneliese; aunts, uncles, cousins, and her dearest best friend, Billie Tibbals of Akron who never failed to send a weekly card and letter. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S. Union Street in Akron. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
