Obituary of Stephen Tratnyek
Stephen Tratnyek, 94, passed away on March 21, at Akron City Hospital.
Born on October 11, 1919 to the late Joseph & Elizabeth Tratnyek, Stephen was a lifetime area resident. He was a faithful and active member of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where he was a bingo volunteer and an altar server. He was a lay member of the Third Order of St. Francis. Stephen proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during WWII. He worked as a tool and die maker, retiring from Rogers Manufacturing in 1984.
In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 1976. He is survived by his children Melanie Tratnyek, Anne Tratnyek, Stephen Tratnyek, and Elizabeth (Peter) Denholm; granddaughter Maggie Denholm; sisters Dorothy Novak & Rose Hall.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jonathan Zingales on Wednesday, March 26, at 10:00 am, at St. John the Baptist on Brown St. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
