Obituary of Albert A. Feltrup

Dr. Albert A. Feltrup, dedicated and compassionate physician for more than 36 years, passed away on Monday, March 17 at the age of 64 from Liposarcoma (cancer).
Al was born on December 10, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1968 and from Xavier University in 1972. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1977. His medical training included an internship and residency in family medicine at Akron City Hospital (now Summa Health System). He then began a private practice in 1980 with his partner and life-long friend, Dr. W. Kevin Lonsdorf, M.D. Dr. Feltrup loved his work and was devoted to the many, many patients he cared for over the years.
His interests included almost any type of sporting event, but especially football on the high school, collegiate and professional levels with his dearly beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed listening to music; especially Oldies, and he and his wife enjoyed attending many concerts together over the years. His family will greatly miss his wonderful sense of humor and the love he had for them and all those he cared for.
Preceded in death by his mother Catherine and father Albert; he is survived by his wife Cathy, whom he loved dearly; son Adam and his wife Shannon of Akron and their children Alicia, Randi and Lana; son Matthew and his wife Anna of Akron; son Christopher of Green; and daughter Megan of Clinton. Dr. Feltrup also leaves behind brother-in-law, Mark Conover of Wadsworth, sister Julie and husband Saul of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister Sally and husband Paul of Cincinnati; and brother Gregg and wife Kara of Cincinnati along with nephews Brian, Scott, Kevin Andrew, Kevin Gregg, Andy, Mark and niece Julie.
He also leaves behind many family and friends in the Cincinnati and Akron areas including the "Survivor Group" and his "Marriage Encounter Group". Also a sincere thank you to his wonderful and faithful office staff at Suburban South Family Physicians. Thank you also for the many cards and prayers from his patients and the parishioners at Saint Francis de Sales and Queen of Heaven churches. Also special thanks to the many Priests and Deacons for their love and support and the many Physicians Al had the pleasure to know as friends and colleagues over the years.
In addition, a special thank you to Dr. Kim and Dr. Koon, Seidman Cancer Center, the chemo nurses and SUMMA Cooper Cancer Center, our Hospice team and Dr. Jay Williamson.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday March 22, 2014 at 11 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church 4019 Manchester Rd, Akron, Ohio 44319. The family will receive friends Friday March 21, 2014 from 4 - 8 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, at 1990 South Main St, Akron, Ohio 44301. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Saint Francis de Sales Church at 4019 Manchester Rd, Akron, Ohio 44319 or St. Bernard's Hot Meals Program (where Dr. Feltrup volunteered for many years).
