Obituary of Sophia Grisak
Sophia Grisak, 95, passed away February 28, 2014 after a short illness.
She was born September 29, 1918 in Akron and was a lifelong resident. She attended Garfield High School and went to work at Goodyear after graduation where she built Blimps for use by the military during World War II. She was a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church and enjoyed making Pierogis and Paschas with the other church ladies. Primarily, she enjoyed being a mother and was the best mother in the whole world.
Preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas; she is survived by her son, Nicholas Grisak and daughter-in-law, Isabelle of Commerce Township, Michigan; daughter, Janice Cocquyt and son-in-law, Frank of Bath Township, Ohio; granddaughter, Kristen Grisak of Commerce Township, Michigan; grandson, Bryan Grisak and his wife, Jess; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Will and Jack all of Cincinnati, Ohio; nieces, Elizabeth, Diana and Debbie; and nephews, Alex and Michael. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Michael and John Hawanczak.
Burial has taken place.
