Obituary of David Dennis Duda

David D. Duda, 65, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Akron General Medical Center . David was born August 13, 1946 to Walter M. and Margaret (Uhall) Duda in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. David "The Saint" is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda; sons Keith (Melissa) Duda; Richard (Anna) Jeter and grandchildren Shelby and Mariah Jeter; Brother Walt (Carol) Duda from Tucson , Arizona; Brother-In-Law Rick (Bonnie) Davis; Brother-In-Law Jim Turneur and aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. David was a 2 time cancer survivor for 32 years. He never once complained during his battle for life. His family is truly blessed to have had those extra years and the opportunity to get to know him as a husband, father, brother, son, uncle and friend. He was an amazingly strong and heroic person we admire and respect. We've learned so many things from him, honesty, loyalty, to have a kind heart, and how to laugh. David was a fantastic bowler in his younger years. He won the Slovak National Tournament, was an Akron All Star, the NBA Tournament and had been on many of the area's top teams. David is in one of the bowling photos hanging on the wall in Luigi's restaurant in Akron and he proudly pointed that out to his family & friends EVERY TIME he visited the restaurant. He loved all Ohio sports, the Browns, Buckeyes, Cavs and Indians. He enjoyed antiques and old cars. He rebuilt a 1965 Mustang and painted it blue for Linda. David & Linda enjoyed old fashioned car shows and festivals together for the atmosphere and music. He was a member of the Allenside Athletic Club. He was a world class accordion player (two songs). David took great joy in attending his granddaughters events and spending time with them. His son Keith would like to thank his Dad for giving him such a cool last name and for sharing the same passion for cleanliness, perfection, and all other OCD habits that were passed onto him. It takes a special person to teach someone how to properly mow a lawn and that it takes a minimum of 6-8 hours for each quarter acre. Special thanks to David's friends Rose Morgan and family & Tom Lohr. The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Akron General ICU, Cleveland Clinic, and to every doctor and nurse who was so kind to him over the years. Cremation has taken place and a private interment of the ashes will take place at Hillside Memorial Park . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York , NY 10016 . (Anthony, 330.724.1281, www.anthonyfh.com)
