Obituary of Steven Raskow
Steven Raskow 81, passed away Friday February 7, 2014.
Steven was born in Akron May 12, 1932. He resided his entire life in Akron. He was a U S Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was employed by Ohio Edison for over 38 years as a lineman and dispatcher at the Fairlawn facility, retiring in 1992. He was a Mason, and member of several area social clubs: the Jednota Club, Polish American Club, American Legion, and the VFW. Steve enjoyed his many Canadian fishing trips and the time he spent with his "old fishing buddies", those that have passed or are still with us. The same goes for his friends in his bowling league, and all of the former Ohio Edison gang. A special thank you goes to his friend and neighbor for over 80 years, Sam Medjed. Thanks to the physicians and staff at Akron General CIC for all the special care and attention that Steve was provided.
Steve was preceded in death by his father George, mother Barbara, brothers Robert, Frank, and Stanley, and his special friend "Grace". He is survived by his sister Helen (Mike) Soppi of Ft. Myers Fla. Steve was a terrific uncle to his extended family of nieces and nephews, and their children. He leaves behind his nephews Robert (Connie) Raskow, Donald (Kathy) Raskow, nieces Cheryl Raskow, Karen Raskow, and Debra (Dave)Witt, great nephews Scott Raskow, Brandon and Matthew Witt, Christopher, and Matthew Raskow, Jeffrey Raskow, and great nieces Shannon Slish (Raskow), Michelle Hensel (Raskow) Jennifer Raskow.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A memorial service will follow immediately at 7pm.
