Obituary of Raymond R Costello
Raymond Costello, 85, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, at his son's home.
Born on Tallmadge Ave. in Akron on October 5, 1928 to the late Domenic & Gertrude Costello, he was a lifetime area resident. He attended St. Vincent, where he played center & linebacker and was a graduate of North High School. Ray retired from the Karg Machine after 30 years of service. He was a devout Catholic and was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Copley since 1969. Ray loved working on his lawn and was a huge fan of classic movies on TCM. as a kid, he was an avid model airplane builder and loved playing in the Gorge with his friends. Ray was a great husband, father, and caring person, who always put others before himself.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara; daughters Patricia Jean & Susan Dawn, and son Michael Vaughn; brothers Robert Costello and his wife Joanne & Thomas Costello. He is survived by his children Charlene (David) Winebrenner of Fort Wayne, IN, Donna Rae Costello of Largo, FL, Timothy Brian (David Fisher) Costello of Akron, and Sean Gregory Costello of Portage Lakes; his joyfully loved grandchildren Patricia Dawn Bozer of Canal Fulton, Tracy (Virgil) Williams-Whitmyer of Indianapolis, IN; great-grandchildren Ava, and twins Penelope & Lucy Whitmyer; brother John (Maggie) Costello & sister Betty (Tony) DeCarlo all of Cuyahoga Falls; sister-in-law Brenda Costello of Hanover, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. David Bline on Saturday, February 1, at 10:00 am at St. Vincent Catholic Church on W. Market St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Jude.org.
