Obituary of James Mahlon Bryan
James Mahlon Bryan, 86, died Thursday, December 26, 2013 in Barberton, OH.
James was born in St. Louis, MO, October 27, 1927, to John and Ethel Bryan. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII. James married Faith Dear in 1956. Their daughters, Rhoda and Silvia, were born in 1957 & 1959. The family moved to Akron, OH, in 1970. James was a pastor in the Assemblies of God and taught in Akron Public Schools (Masters in Education, University of Akron). He was an exceptionally loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Faith, and siblings: Janet Carney, Marie Treazise and Joseph Bryan. He is survived by his daughters Rhoda Bryan and Silvia (Christopher) Long; sister-in-laws Naomi (Jim) Spear and Wilma Bryan; grandchildren Jonathan (Iris) Long, Anna (Steve) Wilkins, Sarah (Nate) Winston, Shelly (Nick) Thompson, September, David Timothy and Caroline Long; great-grandchildren Michael Wilkins and Elaina Faith Thompson; and many nieces & nephews. Special honor goes to his niece, Kathy Bryan.
The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, December 29 from 2-4PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 South Main St. in Akron. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30 at 1PM, Pastor Rich Messenger officiating. Private burial at OWRNC.
