Obituary of Michael S. Silashki
Michael S. Silashki, 83, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013,
surrounded by his loving and devoted wife and family.
He was born on June 24, 1930, in Akron, Ohio, to Dushan and Christine
(Fuchs) Silashki. Mickey was a member of St. Archangel Michael Serbian
Orthodox Church and was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving
during the Korean Era. He was the founder and co-owner of ACROA Corporation
and retired in 2001. Mickey was a graduate of Garfield High School and
attended Kent State and University of Akron. He was a train enthusiast and
learned to enjoy the modern technology of an I-Pad which opened up his world
from his favorite spot at home, his recliner. He also enjoyed his
first-Wednesday-of-the month luncheons with his classmates at Waterloo
Restaurant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Daniel; sisters, Mariana
Silashki and Jennie Karadjich; and just recently, close friend, Tom
Broadbent.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary S. (Pala); daughters, Christina
(Giovanni) Donatelli, Michelle (Michael) Papp, and Francesca
(John) Thoricht; grandchildren, Giancarlo and Alessandra Donatelli, Second
Lieutenant Kevin Papp, stationed at Osan Air Force Base in South Korea,
Ellen Papp and Simone Gearhart; and one niece and three nephews in Arizona.
Funeral service will be held Monday, 1 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home
Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Fr. Milan Pajic
officiating. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends
Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home; Parastas will be held at 4:30 p.m.
