Obituary of Helen Stevanov
GREEN - Helen 'the Hugger' Stevanov, 86, passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Greenview Inn.
Helen was born February, 12, 1927 to Paul and Margaret (Hupcik) Janosik in Lafferty, Ohio and had been a Green resident since 1940. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered with Green Good Neighbors for over 41 years and served as president for 14 years. She loved to dance anywhere, especially polkas at the FOP Lodge and the Polish Club. She was a member of the FOP Auxiliary and the ABC Club. She loved animals and never turned away a stray.
Helen was a hugger. She hugged everyone anywhere, anytime. She had a beautiful smile and shared it generously. She loved the Greenview Inn and the family is grateful to the entire staff and especially the Warmus family for their constant attention to her needs and the loving care they extended to her.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ivan in 1974 and her sisters Kathryn Kidikas and Ann Thompson; and is survived by her children Nancy (Mike) Hagan of Green, Charlene Stevanov of Newark, Delaware and John Stevanov of Green; and her grandchildren Kelly and Alex Stevanov; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:45 am at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Rd., Uniontown, OH 44685 (corner of Steese and Massillon Roads in Green, entrance of Steese Rd.) and will be followed at 10:00 am by a mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Interment Greensburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
