Obituary of Thomas H. Broadbent
Tom passed away on November 29, 2013 at 4:10 p.m.
Thomas was born in Hamilton Ontario Canada November 12, 1930. He attended St. Paul's Elementary School and graduated with honors from Garfield High School in 1949. Thomas Broadbent received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology from John Carroll University in 1956. After being drafted into the military, he became a proud United States Army Veteran, and served his country during the Korean Conflict. Tom worked as an adult Parole Officer for 18 years and retired from Edwin Shaw Hospital in 1991, where he worked as a chemical dependency counselor, helping many people recover from their addictions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Florence Broadbent; and four siblings, Genet (Seliskar), James, Richard and William Broadbent. Tom leaves his devoted and beloved wife, Jean; sons, Thomas, Jr., David and Michael; granddaughter, Sara; and many nieces and nephews.
The Broadbent family would like to extend our most sincere appreciation to Hospice. Tom was grateful for all the care each of you provided, a special thank you to "Katrina" RN. Tom enjoyed spending time with his friends at McDonalds ("Goodbye my friends"). Thomas H. Broadbent, Sr., you shall be dearly missed by your friends and family. We all thank you for being a wonderful father, husband and friend throughout this short-life. May God embrace you and hold you within the kingdom of heaven, among all the Saints and Angels, now and forever...Amen.
Cremation has taken place. A Special Memorial Service will be announced in the near future.
