Obituary of Joseph Anthony Conjerti
Joseph A. Conjerti passed away Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Joe, the son of Joseph M. Conjerti and Ann Conjerti Evans, was born in Niagara Falls, New York. He attended Kent State University where he met his future wife Carolyn (Fogarty) Conjerti. They were married on January 9, 1965.
Joe is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and children Annemarie (Tim) Crouse, Joe Jr. (Diane) Conjerti, Carrie (Brian) Stanley and Felicia (Marc) Adam. He was the proud grandfather of ten, Mitchell, Tony and Abby Crouse, Joey, Jake and Jordan Conjerti, Allie and Alex Stanley, and Rylee and Marc Adam. He also leaves behind his sister Judi Meranto of Las Vegas, NV, and her children Kim, Albert, Chris and families, brother-in-law Ed (Sherry) Fogarty and their children Patrick and Katie and their families. His large Italian family also included many beloved cousins from Niagara Falls, New York.
Joe retired from Firestone in 2001, leaving behind a network of Firestone buddies. He enjoyed bowling with some of them and hunting in southern Ohio. He also enjoyed playing cards with his poker buddies, and fishing with some of them in Canada.
He was a member of St. Paul's parish where he was a part of a lifelong circle of friends. He was called the "Donut Man" having served donuts after masses for over 35 years. He jokingly said "I have to get to heaven some way". He belonged to the Knights of Columbus 3410.
He boated, traveled and vacationed with family and friends, but his favorite place was Treasure Lake.
He was the social planner and loved a party. But the love of his family was his true legacy.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3 to 7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. where a K of C Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday 10:00 am at the funeral home and at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church at 1580 Brown St. Akron OH 44301.
