Obituary of Charles Bob Sampson

CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Charles Robert Sampson, 84, passed away on July 10, at the Stow-Glen Retirement Village. Born in McKee's Rocks, Pa. on October 20, 1926 to the late Thomas and Elizabeth Sampson, Bob had been a longtime area resident. He worked as a carpenter until his retirement in 1988 and was a member of the Cleveland Carpenter's Local #435. Bob proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a veteran of the Battle of Iwo Jima and was awarded a Purple Heart. Bob was an avid golfer and guitar player. He enjoyed playing with a local band, the Rainbow Ragtimers. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Frances, whom he married December 28, 1946; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pamella Sampson of Stow; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonita and Michael Kalla of Akron, Rebecca and Alan Miller of Muscatine, Iowa, and Jennifer and Paul Gruver of Tallmadge; sister, Jean Crock of Cuyahoga Falls and sister-in-law, Blanche Meyer of Florida; 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staffs at Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls, Stow-Glen Retirement Village, and Harbor Light Hospice for the loving and compassionate care that was given to Bob.

Visitation

A graveside service will take place on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 70 W. Streetsboro St. Suite 201 in Hudson, Ohio 44236.
