Obituary of Claris Sloan

Claris Sloan, 94, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013. She was born in Albany, Kentucky. Mrs. Sloan was a 64 year member of the Akron Baptist Temple. She enjoyed cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Della (Pierce) Cross; husband, Jerry Sloan; and son-in-law, Michael Akers. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Akers and Donna (Tom) Schueller; son, Eddie (Donna) Sloan; sister, Elsie Whittenburg; grandchildren, Michele (Tony) Urdiales, Matthew (Trisha) Akers, Jerred and Chrissy Sloan, Trent Schueller and Joe (Allison) Burick; and great-grandchildren, Allie and Mya Akers, Adolfo, Gabriella and Hannah Urdiales and Jackson and Gabriella Burick. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at the Akron Baptist Temple, 2324 Manchester Rd. Akron, Ohio 44314. Rev. Ernie Kemppel officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301.
