Obituary of Dora Jane Miller
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Dora Jane Miller (nee Hicks), beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2012, at age 89, after a decades-long battle with heart disease.
Dora, a West Virginia native who had made Ohio her home for nearly 70 years, arrived in Ohio with her sisters in 1942 to work as a "Rosy the Riveter" at Goodyear Aircraft as part of the war effort. After her marriage in 1952 to James Miller, Dora dedicated her time to her family, raising her two children, Sharon Saladin (Bob) and R. James Miller (Kathy Zeller.
Dora enjoyed family gatherings and spending time in the kitchen and she was always called upon to make favorite family recipes for special occasions, from her potato salad and pickled eggs and beets for summer picnics to her oyster stew for Christmas. She loved to fuss over feeding the grandchildren and never forgot to add her secret ingredient of love. Dora also enjoyed reading, playing with the family cats, playing card games, and spending time with friends.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter and son; her brother, Clyde; her five grandchildren: Michele Kolb (Chris), Steve Saladin (Christine), Dann Saladin (Beth), Derek Miller (Maggie) and Jared Miller (Tiffany); and her five great-grandchildren: Jacob, Gabe, Lauren, Evee, and Alena.
The family would like to express their deep thanks to the staff at Summit Villa and Asera Care Hospice for their genuine caring and loving kindness for Dora and her family.
