Obituary of John Pferschi

John Pferschi passed away 9/18/2013 at the age of 85. John was born in Yugoslavia on October 1, 1927 to Theresea (Schermaul) and Josef Pferschi . John and Julia Dyak got married June 1, 1947 in Linz Austria and came to Akron Ohio in 1951. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. We will miss him very much. He was an avid member of Immaculate Conception Mary Parish. He loved volunteering at the church festivals and Bingo. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Julia, father-in-law and mother-in-law Maria and Matthew Zimmerman, son-in-law Dennis Martin, sisters-in-law Anna Pferschi, Anna Novak, and Anna Dyak, brothers-in-law John Dyak, Josef Filian and nieces Dianna and Linda Dyak. He will be greatly missed by daughters Anna Marie (William) Birch and Rosemary Arp; grandchildren, David (Tracey) Martin, Marc (Gina) Martin, Kelly (Jason) Shankland, Kevin (Caroline) Arp, Christina Nihart; great-grandchildren, Jaret, Hayley, Kirstyn, Addisyn, Brooke, Joshua, Jacob, Austin, Dylan, Claudia, Tony, Craig and Christopher; great-great-grandchildren, Julia, Wyatt and Damian; sisters, Mary (Steve) Hajek and Anna Filian, brother , Steve Pferschi; sister-in-law Rose (George) Kungl and brother-in-law, Matthew (LouAnn) Zimmerman and a lot of nieces and nephews and Mato Boljar, a long time family friend who will miss him. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to all of the caring doctors, nurses, and staff at the Hospice Care Center who cared for John at the end of his life. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 4-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenmore.
