Obituary of Pete Strenger
Pete Strenger, 92, fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, August 30, 2013.
He was born in Akron and was an area resident his entire life. He was a mutuel clerk at Northfield Park and Thistledown retiring in 1985 after 34 years of service. Mr. Strenger was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving during World War II. Pete was a member of Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church, Fellowship of St. Simeon, Racing Guild of Ohio Local 304 and a social member of the Jednota Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Petru and Floarea (Duma) Strenger. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Strenger of Honolulu, Hawaii; nephew, Michael Strenger of California; and cousin, Florica Kanustyak of Romania.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. at Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church, 3365 Ridgewood Rd. in Fairlawn where Pete will lie in state one hour prior to service. Very Rev. Dr. Ian G. Pac-Urar officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Calling hours will be held Monday, 6 to 7 p.m. AT THE CHURCH where a Saracusta service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Donations may be made to Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church, 3365 Ridgewood Rd.
