Obituary of Edward L. Stillwell
Edward L. Stillwell, 65, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
Born in Akron on March 30, 1946 to the late Dewey and Margie (Measell) Stillwell, he was a 1964 graduate of Ellet High School. Ed earned his Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Akron where he was a member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity. It was there he met Audrey Armour. Upon her graduation, they married and relocated to California where he was employed by the Lompoc Unified School District. He retired from Stow City Schools on disability. He was active in the Mogadore Lions Club for 30 years.
Ed was the devoted husband of Audrey for 42 years; and loving father to son, Brad (Barbie) Stillwell; and daughter and caregiver, Jenette (Jon) Leonino. The most treasured experience of his life was becoming a grandpa to Danny Stillwell and Carly Leonino. He was the "favorite" brother-in-law to Ruth and Ron Salmon and Beverly Armour.
He loved family, SGT buddies (Ves, Cappy and Millsey), golf, traveling, Civil War History and the Cleveland Browns. He will be remembered for his amazing sense of humor even in his darkest days. A special thank you to Hospice of Summa, especially Phil and Angela and to Hallie and Troy on the staff at Akron City Hospital.
