Obituary of Robert Wayne Johnson

-TALLMADGE Robert W. Johnson Jr., 58, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 8, 2013. He was born in Winchester, Virginia on April 3, 1955; the son of Robert and Elaine (Doman) Johnson. Bob graduated from Garfield High School in 1973. After graduation he attended the University of Akron and began working for Standard Motor Parts. Later, he was hired by the City of Akron and worked for over 30 years in the Water Pollution Control Department. He loved working with all the guys in his department who were not just co-workers but friends. In June of 2009, Bob was diagnosed with lung cancer and has been cancer free for over three years thanks to his doctors at the Cleveland Clinic. He enjoyed sports, hiking, working in his yard, hanging out with his friends and relatives and especially his grandkids who affectionately called him Grandad. Bob could be stubborn and opinionated and always set high standards for himself and others. He took great care of his family and his love for them never wavered. Bob is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dorothy (Yauger) Johnson; son, Matthew of Tallmadge; daughter, Jessica and her children Kaiden and Kalea Cantiberos also of Tallmadge; and sisters Constance Korosec of Chesterland, Barbara Cook of Portage Lakes and Deborah Rogers of Phoenix, Arizona. Bob always said there were only four people in the world who could call him "Bobby" and they were his sisters and his mom. He is also survived by many relatives from the Johnson and Yauger families. Cremation has taken place. Bob wanted his ashes scattered in Goodyear Metropolitan Park where he and his wife, Dorothy, often hiked and in Romney, W.Va. with his parents. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, at 7pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 until the time of the service.
