Obituary of Melynda M. Dort

Melynda Dort, 42, loving wife, daughter, mother, & sister, passed away surrounded by her family on August 6, after a long & courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Akron on August 13, 1970, Melynda was a 1988 graduate of Ellet High School. She earned her BS in accounting from the University of Akron and had previously worked as an accountant for the City of Akron. She was a parishioner of St. Paul Catholic Church in Firestone Park. Preceded in death by her grandparents Alton & Sarah Herman and Earl & Evelyn Rininger, Melynda is survived by her husband of 18 years, Steven and her beloved son Nathan; parents Donald & Gloria Rininger; brother and sister-in-law Todd & Kris Rininger and niece Cassidy, as well as many other aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, and friends. The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to both Joe Fisher & Gina Roberts for their compassionate care, as well as all of the doctors and nurses from both Akron General Medical Center & Select Specialty Hospital, for the outstanding care given to Melynda. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2-5 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Monday with prayers at 10:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Ralph Thomas at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
