Obituary of Anna 'Jan' Long

-CUYAHOGA FALLS Anna Jeanette Long, 72, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family, after an extended illness, on July 29 at Akron City Hospital. Born in Albany, KY on July 24, 1941 to the late Perry & Willie Bernice Cross, Jan had been a Falls resident for over 46 years. She was a 1960 graduate of East High School. Jan worked as a secretary for Alsides for over 20 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Catholic Women's Sewing Club on North Hill. Jan was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a woman of strong christian faith, who always put others before herself. Jan loved babies & kids, and many of the children who grew up with her affectionately called her, 'mom'. In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Linda Cross & brother-in-law Ed Long. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jim Sr. of Cuyahoga Falls;children Jim Jr. (Tracy) of Cuyahoga Falls, Tammy (Ed) Meador of Irvine, CA, and Shawn of Costa Mesa, CA; grandchildren Zach & Hannah Long and Jonathan & Connor Meador; brothers Clint (Sheila) Cross of Akron & Jack (Tari-Lifelong friend) Cross of Massillon; sister-in-law Lenora Long, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members & friends. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL 247 Stow Ave. (at 3rd. St., one block north of Portage Trail) Cuyahoga Falls. A funeral will take place on Saturday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
