Obituary of Lena A. Vezzani

Lena A. Vezzani, 88, went home to be with the Lord on July 27, at Windsong Care Center in Fairlawn. Born in Sicily on July 28, 1924 to the late Frank & Grace Sanfilippo, Lena had been a longtime Akron resident. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Akron, as well as the Haven of Rest Ladies Auxiliary, where she was an avid volunteer, the Manchester Women's Club, & the St. Paul Ladies Guild. In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Harry, whom she lovingly took care of for 10 years before his death; brother Jim Sanfilippo & sister-in-law Ann Sanfilippo. She is survived by her sons Dennis (Helen) Vezzani of Munroe Falls and Harry of Akron; sister Rose (Guido) Margida of Akron; grandchildren Wendy (Scott) Anderson, Melanie (John) Julius, and Stephanie (Jim) Rosko; great-grandchildren Taylor, Sarah, Morgan, Madison, Michael, & Andrew, as well as many nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Ralph Thomas on Wednesday at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
