Obituary of Mildred 'Babe" Tolliver
MILDRED 'BABE' TOLLIVER
Mildred M. Tolliver, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the age of 93. She was born in Akron, Ohio on May 16, 1918 to William Hugh and Belle Morgan, the youngest of three sisters. She graduated from Garfield High School, where she was voted "best dressed". She was always proud to say she graduated and went to work as a Secretary at Akron City Hospital.
She met her husband Harold "Pat" Tolliver in Akron and were married on July 18, 1942. They resided in Firestone Park until 1964, when they transferred to California. Pat's various positions within the airfoam industry moved them to many different cities and states across the country. Babe and Pat returned to Akron, residing in Green, close to friends and family.
Her joy was her family, especially spending time with her great grandchildren, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. On Thursdays, she loved to "dress-up" and have her hair and nails done. She possessed a strong faith in God and was a member of the Firestone Park Presbyterian Church for 64 years.
Mildred loved to play cards from her days in Firestone Park to present, she belonged to many bridge clubs over the years, including Goodyear Auxiliary Women's Bridge Club. She was the last remaining member of a long-time group of friends from the Akron area that met monthly. Most recently she played euchre with her best friend from childhood Elaine Stephens.
She had a wonderful sense of humor, beautiful snow-white hair and engaging smile, her goal in life was to make people smile!
The family is grateful to the kind staffs of AGMC, Pebble Creek 360 Rehabilitation and VNS Hospice Care Center on Ridgewood Road.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Beatrice Morgan and Mary Jo Moore and her son William "Bill" Tolliver. She lost the love of her life and husband of 65 years, Harold "Pat" Tolliver in 2007.
