Obituary of Donald M. Todd
Donald M Todd, 78, has lost a courageous battle with cancer and passed away June 2, 2013. Don was born the oldest child to Cecil and Agnes Todd on June 30, 1934 in Barberton, Ohio. His parents preceded him in death.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, the love of his life, Charlene. They were married August 20, 1955. Together they raised 3 children. Son, D. Timothy (Connie) Todd of Barberton, Ohio, daughters Lisa Marie (Greg) Gnap of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Pamela Marie (D. Steven) Booher of Barberton, Ohio. Later their six grandchildren, Timothy (Monica), Charles, Adam (Wendy), Julie, Todd and Joseph, brightened their lives. Bringing even more joy, their Great Grandchildren, Olivia, Caleb, Roan, Caden, and Sophia were constant sources of happiness to them. Don's sister Janet (John) Enrietto lives in Roanoke, Indiana. Don's brother Robert (Elizabeth) Todd lives in N. Canton, Ohio. Don was always happiest around family and friends.
Don was an active parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church in Akron for over 55 year. Amongst his many activities, he served as a Eucharistic Minister and as an Usher.
Don started employment at Goodyear Aerospace in 1952. His time as a Boiler Engineer ended in retirement in 1991. Don loved traveling. He and Charlene loved taking Cruises, spending time at the beach, and together visited 47 of the 50 states, several countries, and logged many many miles exploring lighthouses.
Christian, Husband, Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Brother, Friend, Teacher. Often a hero and always a pillar of strength, He was surrounded by family and friends the day he passed and he will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Michael B. Smith on Thursday at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenmore. Interment will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Doylestown.
