Obituary of Helen Joan Petty

Helen Joan Petty, 93, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at Rose Lane Care Center. Helen was born January 22, 1920 to George and Mary (Gurnish) Mitchen in Akron and had been an area resident her entire life. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and had been a former member of St. John the Baptist Church. She was a former member of St. John Ladies Guild and Altar and Rosary Society as well as a current member of the Jednota Branch 553. She worker with the Rosary makers at Queen of Heaven. Helen lived for her husband children and especially her grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband John in 1980 and her siblings Joe, Mike, John and George Mitchen, Margaret Baranek, Ann Rusinko and Mary Begallie. She is survived by her children Carolyn (Ted) Pappas, Donna (Ron Jacobs) Klein, Mary (Rob) Jewell and John T. Petty; grandchildren Brandy (fiance Jeff Romanek) Klein and Brian and Jessica Jewell. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown, OH 44685. Donations may be made to Queen of Heaven Church.
