Obituary of Mildred Tumbas

Mildred Tumbus, 95, passed away on Orthodox Easter Sunday, May 5, 2013. "Christ is Risen." Mildred was born to the late Obrad and Dafina (Telecka) Malencic in Akron on January 12, 1918. Mildred was a lifetime and very active member of St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church. She was a former treasurer of the church and a charter member and former president of the St. Demetrius Church choir. She was a 44 year member of the Kolo Srpska Sestara. From 1982 to 1995 she was in charge of 'Cake and Coffee' hour held every Sunday after services. Mildred was a gracious lady who spoke her mind. She was a good cook and baker. Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years Nick in 2004; brother Mike 'Malen' Malencic and sister Bessie Malencic; and is survived by her sister-in-law Nada Malen and her beloved nieces and nephews Obrad (Dusica) Malen, Marko Malen, Milica (Robert) Knepp, Dianna (Ron) Dunnington, Kate (George) McDowell, Mildred Medich, Nick Hrkman, Nadijne Kokot, Sandi (Ray) Radoja, Peter (Jan) Tumbus, Nick (Carol) Tumbus, Gary (Marlene) Tumbus, Fr. Stephen Betsy)Tumbus, David (Sharon) Tumbus, Mark (DeeDee) Tumbas and many great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday 1:00 pm at St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church where Mildred will lie in state one hour prior to services. Rev. Fr. George Mileusnich will officiate assisted by Rev. Fr. Stephen Tumbas. Entombment Rose Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron where a Parastas service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
