Obituary of Robert R. Shaffer

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Robert R. Shaffer, 76, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013. He was born in Hollsopple, Pennsylvania and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a Quality Control Supervisor for the Ford Motor Company retiring in 1997 after 42 years of service. Mr. Shaffer was a very dedicated family man and enjoyed the game of golf. Special thank you to Jennifer and Hospice of Summa for their care. He was preceded in death by parents, Orlo and Mary (Chambers) Shaffer; wife, Shirley A. in 2012; brother, James; and sister, Marie Seymour. He is survived by his children, Kim Longhitano (Skip), Bob, Jr. (Sherri), Michele (Charles) Shinn, Missy (Marty) Vokas and Lori Bianchi; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and special friends, Sally and Bernie Frye who shared in a double ring ceremony with Bob and Shirley 58 years ago. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. (one block North of Portage Trail at 3rd St.) in Cuyahoga Falls where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
