Obituary of Elizabeth J. Thornton
Elizabeth Thornton, 90, passed away Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013.
Elizabeth was born Easter Sunday, April 16, 1922 in Rittman, Ohio to Theodore and Blanche (Tears) Hopkin and had been an Akron Artea resident her entire life.
She was a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the St.Paul Ladies Guild and had been a member of Knights of Columbus Council 3410 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed 30 years with the Akron U Book Store. She was a current member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Paul; great granddaughter
Gia Elizabeth Godar and siblings Mae (Joseph) Mako, Joe (June) Hopkins, Margaret (Frank) Sharf and Ellen (George) Plehn.
She is survived by her children Mary Ellen (David) Wiley of Green, Barbara (William) Fatica of Akron Teri Godar of Cape Coral, FL and Paul (Kelly) Thornton of Hilton Head, SC; grandchildren Christine (Craig) Ball, Cheryl Wiley (fiance Dave Kraft), Bill and Lisa (fiance Brian Lay) Fatica, David (Kim) Wiley, Jeff (Missy) Wiley, Sean and Jenna Godar, Christopher and Matthew Thornton and Erik Godar; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; many neices and nephews.
The family is grateful to St. Luke's for the tenderness and compassion shown to Elizabeth during her tow year stay.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 Pm at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Rd. (corner of Steese and Massillon Roads, entrance off of Steese Rd.) in Green, Ohio. Funeral services will take place Thursday 10:45 Am at the funeral home and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 Am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road,• Uniontown, Ohio 44685.
