Obituary of Frances Mae Gaston
Frances Mae 'Dolly' Glaston, 79, passed away on April 1, 2013 at Akron City Hospital.
Born in Akron on July 25, 1933 to the late Joseph & Sarah Dombek, Dolly had been a lifetime area resident. She was a 1951 graduate of Garfield High School and later attended the University of Akron. She worked as a secretary for Firestone T & R Co., in quality control for Goodyear Tire & Rubber, was a sales rep. for R.J. Reynolds, and as a merchandiser for American Greetings. Dolly also volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and was the first commissioner of the Green Girls Softball League. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, where she was responsible for making the linens & skirting for the church hall upon its opening. She volunteered for many years at the church fish fry's and Bazaars. Dolly enjoyed traveling, crocheting, knitting, and entertaining guests at her swimming pool.
In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her daughter Debbie. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert of Green; sons Rick (Theresa) of Fort Collins, CO & Ken of Akron & grandson Jason Glaston of St. Louis; sister Aldena Sample and her children Robbie & Melissa Sample, as well as many cousins.
The family will receive friends TODAY from 5-9 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where a Parastas will take place at 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church 755 S. Cleveland Ave. Mogadore, Ohio 44260., where Frances will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Fr. Nicholas Wyslutsky officiating. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Nicholas Cemetery Fund.
