Obituary of Donald Richard Corney

GREEN - Donald Corney, 84, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. Don was born June 28, 1933 to Thomas and Emma Marie (Bates) Corney in Akron and had been an area resident for most of his life. He was employed for 45 years in the machine industry most recently for Excel Mold, retiring in 2003. He was a founding member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where he had served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of Prestwick Country Club, the Eagles and BPO Elks. Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife Madeline in 2015 and daughter-in-law Lorrain Corney. He is survived by his sons Dan and Rick (Lisa) Corney; grandchildren Lauren (Vincent) Brechbill, Allysa (Christopher) Brooks and Geoffrey Corney; great grandchildren Alivia, Vincent and Michael Brechbill and Henry and Harrison Brooks. He was especially grateful to his neighbor Carol Kramer for her longtime friendship and unwavering support to both Don and Madeline. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Steese and Massillon Roads in Green, entrance off of Steese Rd.). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road Uniontown OH 44685. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
